Peninsula Villages Will Accommodate Presbyterian Aged Care Residents and Staff

Peninsula Villages will continue its commitment to supporting older aged locals and is pleased to announce it will accommodate some of the residents and staff from Presbyterian Aged Care Gosford, following its closure.

The Presbyterian Village Community Residential Aged Care Facility at Gosford is set to close imminently, and Peninsula Villages has negotiated to relocate 14 residents and 12 staff to Peninsula Villages’ Pozieres House development at Umina Beach. The transition agreement was negotiated between the two aged care organisations and ensures that along with the residents, the valued staff are retained and can continue caring for these residents and maintain family relationships.

“Peninsula Villages’ ethos is based on investing in our local community and older aged residents and therefore we are proud to offer our facilities to the residents and the beloved staff from Presbyterian Aged Care Gosford,” explained Fred J.P. Van Steel, Chief Executive Officer of Peninsula Villages.

“Speaking with the families of these residents, continuity of care was important and therefore we are delighted we can accommodate the residents within one wing in our Pozieres House building,” he added.

Peninsula Villages has grown into one of the Central Coast’s leading not-for-profit aged care providers with more than 450 residents and 300 staff across its three residential care facilities, three independent living villages and one affordable seniors’ living village.

The closure of Presbyterian Aged Care Gosford will see Peninsula Villages retain a significant number of skilled staff and the two organisations are pleased to be able to share likeminded values that led to a mutual arrangement.

“We recognise that the closure of our Gosford Presbyterian facility will be unsettling and stressful for residents and staff, who have been front of mind in our planning,” said Olivia Wood, Interim CEO of Presbyterian Aged Care NSW & ACT.

“We are however, absolutely thrilled to have the support of Peninsula Villages, a reputable local provider to ensure a smooth transition for our staff and residents to their state-of-the-art facilities,” continued Ms Wood.

With COVID-19 adding increased pressure to an already challenging industry, the aged care sector is consistently having to adapt and change with the varying needs of the community.

“At the core of all decisions for Peninsula Villages, is the consideration as to what is best for our community and on this occasion, we wanted to ensure that these residents and staff were able to relocate collectively as part of the same family unit,” added Mr Van Steel.

“The Barrenjoey wing within Pozieres House is currently vacant and therefore it made perfect sense to relocate these residents and staff together as part of this state-of-the-art development. We look forward to welcoming these new faces and learning more about what they will bring to our colourful and loved village community,” he concluded.
